Description
IWC Portugieser Chronograph Ref. IW371401
The IWC Portugieser Chronograph with reference IW371401 from 2005 is one of the absolute icons of modern watchmaking. Originally designed in the 1930s as a large-format nautical precision instrument for Portuguese merchants, this timepiece combines the sporty functionality of a Chronograph with the unobtrusive elegance of a classic dress watch. With its clear lines and harmonious proportions, this model has set standards in the luxury watch segment for generations.
-
The distinctive face of the Portugieser: The silver dial impresses with its excellent symmetry and the characteristic, outer minute track. The applied Arabic numerals and the slender feuille hands (lance hands) in elegant Rose Gold give the watch a warm, luxurious touch.
-
The perfect case design: With a diameter of approx. 41 mm, the case made of high-gloss polished and satin-finished stainless steel offers a present but by no means intrusive size. Thanks to the extremely narrow bezel, the dial appears pleasantly large and is perfectly legible.
-
Proven chronograph caliber: Inside works the reliable automatic caliber IWC 79350. In this era (around 2005), the underlying movements were still elaborately modified and refined according to the strict quality standards of IWC in Schaffhausen to guarantee the highest accuracy.
-
Classic stopwatch function: The vertical arrangement of the totalizers (small seconds at 6 o’clock and 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock) ensures the typically tidy, “clean” face for which the Ref. 3714 is appreciated worldwide.
-
Comfort and elegance: The case is completed by a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective Sapphire Crystal and a closed case back, which offers optimal protection for the movement. The model is worn on a noble leather strap with a classic IWC stainless steel clasp.
-
A collector's classic from 2005: This version from 2005 represents the golden era of the classic reference 3714. It is considered by connoisseurs to be one of the most versatile watches ever – perfectly balanced between a fine suit and an upscale casual look.
