Description
Rolex Yacht-Master 40 Reference 116655: The Revolution in Everose Gold
The Rolex Yacht-Master 40 (Reference 116655) from 2016 is a historic milestone for the manufacture. At its launch, it broke with almost all traditional Rolex conventions and completely redefined the maritime luxury sports watch. By combining the in-house warm gold alloy, a matte high-tech bezel, and the very first rubber strap in the brand's history, this reference immediately achieved cult status.
The groundbreaking Oysterflex strap
The absolute highlight of the 116655 is the Rolex-developed and patented Oysterflex strap. Although it looks like a sporty rubber strap, it is actually a highly advanced hybrid strap at its core:
-
The core: Inside the black elastomer is a highly flexible spring blade core made of a titanium-nickel alloy, which gives the strap the robustness and security of a metal bracelet.
-
The comfort: On the inside, patented cushion-like longitudinal stabilizers ("wings") ensure that the watch is perfectly balanced on the wrist and that the skin can breathe optimally.
Everose Gold meets matte Ceramic
The 40 mm case is made of solid 18 karat Everose Gold – a rose gold alloy developed by Rolex that never loses its noble color shine thanks to a platinum content.
-
The bezel: A spectacular contrast to the shiny gold case is the bidirectional rotating matte bezel. The deep black Cerachrom ceramic tooth ring has a sandblasted surface, from which the polished numerals and graduations stand out in relief and three-dimensional.
-
The dial: The matte, deep black dial perfectly continues the theme of the bezel. The gold-framed indices and hands are filled with blue Chromalight luminescent material, while the red "Yacht-Master" inscription sets a sharp, sporty accent.
Proven mechanics and Oyster protection
The watch is powered by the mechanical manufacture caliber 3135 with automatic winding and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. Equipped with the paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, the movement guarantees the highest precision (-2/+2 seconds per day) and durability.
Thanks to the Triplock winding crown and the solid case back, the Yacht-Master is absolutely waterproof up to a depth of 100 meters (10 bar). The Oysterflex strap is secured with a solid Oysterlock safety folding clasp, also made of 18 karat Everose Gold. Reference 116655 is the perfect statement for watch enthusiasts seeking the ultimate balance between sporty casualness and absolute high-end luxury.
