Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 16800 | Stainless Steel | Vintage
The Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 16800 is one of the most coveted vintage models of the Submariner series and is considered an important transitional reference between the classic vintage generation and the modern Submariner models. Produced from around 1979 to 1988, it combines the charm of early Submariners with numerous technical innovations.
The 40 mm Oyster case made of stainless steel features a unidirectional rotating dive bezel and was the first Submariner Date with scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal as well as water resistance of 300 meters. Depending on the year of manufacture, the reference was produced with both matte dials and later glossy dials with White Gold indexes, making it particularly interesting for collectors.
Inside works the proven Rolex manufacture caliber 3035 with automatic Perpetual winding. The chronometer-certified movement features a Date quickset and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours – an important technical advancement over its predecessor.
The Rolex Submariner 16800 combines authentic vintage character with high everyday practicality and is today one of the most sought-after references among collectors and enthusiasts of classic dive watches.
