Striking design & tribute to history
With a case diameter of 42 mm, the 216570 has a powerful presence on the wrist. The most distinctive feature is the unmistakable, arrow-shaped orange GMT hand – a direct visual tribute to the legendary original Explorer II (Reference 1655) from the 1970s. Combined with the fixed, satin-finished stainless steel bezel with 24-hour graduation, this hand allows effortless reading of a second time zone or distinguishing between day and night in extreme environments.

Whether with the deep black or the radiant white “Polar” dial: The Explorer II is designed for uncompromising functionality:

Maxi Dial: Enlarged indices and broader hands (often called “phantom hands” by collectors because their base is painted black on the black dial) ensure optimal visibility.

Chromalight display: The hands and indices are coated with an exclusive luminescent material that glows long-lasting and intensely blue in the dark.

Cyclops lens: The scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal features the characteristic magnifying lens at 3 o’clock to enlarge the date.
Robust inner workings
Inside works the specially developed manufacture caliber 3187 for this model. It features the blue Parachrom hairspring and the highly efficient Paraflex shock absorption system, which makes the watch extremely resistant to shocks, magnetic fields, and extreme temperatures. The robust Oyster bracelet made of Oystersteel is equipped with the practical Easylink extension, which allows the bracelet to be spontaneously extended by 5 mm on warm days.
