Rolex Lady-Datejust 26 (Ref. 6900 Series) – The Gold Classic
The designation “6900” refers to the family of Lady-Datejust references from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. In solid 18 Karat Yellow Gold (often as Ref. 69178), it is the epitome of the classic women's watch by Rolex.
Case & Proportions
With a diameter of 26 mm, this is the historical standard size for Rolex women's watches. The case is compact, elegant, and thanks to the Oyster concept and the screw-down crown, water-resistant up to 100 meters. The crystal on models from around 1983 (such as the 69178) is already made of scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal, while very early 6900 models might still have Acrylic Glass.
The Bezel: The Face of the Watch
In the Yellow Gold version, the watch is almost always equipped with the iconic fluted bezel. It breaks the light with every movement and ensures the unmistakable Rolex shine. Occasionally, versions with diamond bezel or polished bezel can also be found within the 6900 series.
