Cartier Santos Large (Ref. WSSA0018) – “Iced Out” Customization
The Reference WSSA0018 is originally the classic Cartier Santos in the large version (Large Model) made of Steel. In the “Iced Out” version, this iconic design is radically transformed by an aftermarket diamond setting.
The Case & The Setting
The case measures approximately 39.8 mm x 47.5 mm. In an “Iced Out” finish, usually the entire case, bezel, and often the bracelet are fully set with diamonds.

Material: The base is Steel, while the characteristic bezel in custom projects is often replaced with a Rose Gold version or accented with Rose Gold to create a bicolor look.

Setting: The so-called Honeycomb or Pavee Setting is often used to leave as little Metal visible between the stones as possible.
Dial Variants
In fully set models, the dial is often modified as well:

Iced-Out Dial: A dial completely set with diamonds (Full Pavee).

Roman Numerals: The typical Roman Cartier numerals are often retained or replaced with colored gemstones (e.g., Sapphires or emeralds) to create contrasts.
Movement & Functionality
Despite the visual modification, the technical base remains the manufacture caliber 1847 MC. This automatic movement is known for its reliability and offers protection against magnetic fields. The practical Cartier innovations usually remain intact (provided the bracelet has not been changed):

Important Note on Value Retention
An “Iced Out” Cartier is a highly customized piece of jewelry. Since the diamond setting is aftermarket (not done by Cartier at the factory), the watch loses its official Cartier warranty and is no longer considered “original” among collectors. The value of such watches is primarily defined by the quality of the stones used and the craftsmanship of the jeweler, rather than the purist collector value of the reference.
