The Cartier Ballon Bleu (Reference WSBB0040) in its 2024 version brings one of the most fascinating case shapes in haute horlogerie to the men's wrist. It breaks with the conventions of the classic round watch and floats like a balloon between tradition and futuristic elegance.
Sculptural Design & The Secret of the Crown
The defining feature of this watch is its 40-mm case made of high-gloss polished Steel, which is gently curved on both the front and back. The visual highlight is the deep blue synthetic spinel cabochon crown, cleverly integrated into the case and surrounded by a protective metal arch. This design element forces the Roman numerals on the dial into an elegant curve and gives the watch its distinctive dynamic.
The Iconic Face of Cartier
The guilloché dial in a Silver tone impresses with its fine texture that artfully captures the light. Together with the characteristic sword-shaped hands made of blued steel and the minute track in the style of a railway ("Chemin de fer"), the model carries the pure design DNA of the Cartier house.
