Description
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Openworked Double Balance Wheel (Ref. 15407ST)
The 15407ST is considered one of the most impressive masterpieces of modern Haute Horlogerie. It solved the problem of timekeeping accuracy through an innovative mechanical architecture.
The Double Balance Wheel Technology
The centerpiece is the Caliber 3132. Audemars Piguet has installed two balance wheels and two hairsprings on the same axis. This patented system ensures significantly higher precision and stability, as the sources of error caused by gravity cancel each other out.
Handwork Skeletonization
The dial is completely skeletonized (Openworked), revealing the highly complex mechanics. Every bridge and every edge is finished, beveled, and polished by hand. A special visual highlight is the golden balance bridge, prominently visible on both the front and back of the watch.
Case and Aesthetics
-
Material: Classic stainless steel (ST) with the legendary interplay of brushed and polished surfaces.
-
Dimensions: The case has a diameter of 41 mm and an astonishingly slim height of under 10 mm for this level of complexity.
-
Details: The characteristic octagonal bezel and the perfectly integrated steel bracelet frame the skeletonized movement, while the rose gold hands and indices ensure necessary legibility.
Exclusivity
Although not a limited edition in the classic sense, production is strictly limited due to the extremely elaborate handwork. The 15407ST is one of the hardest-to-obtain models in the current Audemars Piguet portfolio.
