Description
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Grand Réveil, reference 180.2.99, crafted from fine 18-karat Rose Gold, is one of the absolute highlights of modern Grande Complications. Originally launched as a pioneering achievement in the late 1980s, the Grand Réveil was the first to combine two of the most demanding complications in watchmaking in a single case: a Perpetual Calendar with a four-digit Year Display and precise Moon Phase, as well as a mechanical alarm function with the option of a chime or vibration alarm. This masterpiece embodies the undisputed technical prowess of the manufacture in Le Sentier - the “watchmaker of watchmakers.”
Substantial, classic 18-karat Rose Gold case: The substantial case (approx. 41 mm in diameter) stands out with its bold, double-stepped bezel contours and elegantly curved lugs. The warm Rose Gold gives this highly complicated watch a distinguished, aristocratic presence.
Complex, perfectly structured dial: The porcelain-white dial arranges a wealth of astronomical and calendar information in perfect symmetry:
Perpetual Calendar: Displays for the Weekday (9 o'clock), Date (3 o'clock) and month (6 o'clock), complemented by a complete four-digit year window between 7 and 8 o'clock.
Perpetual Moon Phase: Highly precise Moon Phase display at 12 o'clock, capable of showing both the northern and southern hemispheres.
Alarm function: Central red hand for setting the alarm time using the bezel scale.
Duo alarm mechanism (chime / vibration): The Grand Réveil's technical highlight is its switchable alarm: choose between a clear acoustic chime via a tone spring or a discreet, perceptible vibration alarm on the wrist.
In-house manufacture caliber JLC 919 (Automatic): Inside beats the legendary, exceptionally intricate JLC 919 form movement. The Automatic movement consists of over 350 individual parts, operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and features a beryllium balance wheel and a finely balanced winding system.
Two engraved Gold crowns: The two distinctive crowns on the right side of the case provide intuitive control of the time, calendar functions and alarm activation.
Scratch-resistant, domed Sapphire Crystal: A highly durable Sapphire Crystal protects the multi-layered dial and ensures clear legibility of the fine engravings and hands.
Solid Rose Gold caseback: The hermetically screwed caseback in 18-karat Rose Gold bears the manufacture's individual engravings and reference number, protecting the highly complex movement within.
Fine alligator leather strap with Gold folding clasp: This classic is worn on a hand-stitched alligator leather strap, secured by an original Jaeger-LeCoultre folding clasp in 18-karat Rose Gold.
A milestone in Haute Horlogerie: The Rose Gold reference 180.2.99 is a highly sought-after collector's item and an enduring monument to classic Swiss grand complications, with exceptional value retention.
