Description
Royal Oak Tourbillon
In 1966, Georges Golay took over the position of General Manager at Audemars Piguet. In 1971, Carlo de Marchi, an Italian agent, approached this adventurous entrepreneur. He asked for a multifunction watch suitable for both sports cars and elegant evening parties – the case and bracelet could be made of Steel. The designer Gérald Genta had to help; Golay called him on the eve of the Basel Watch and Jewellery Show and requested an acceptable design for the next day.
The famous watch designer later created Patek Philippe Nautilus, IWC Engineer, and Bulgari Bulgari. When considering the possible shape of the required watch, Genta recalled a childhood experience: at some point, he had observed a professional diver putting on and securing his helmet. The rubber seal and several screws form a pressure-resistant connection with the protective suit. These impressions led to a watch design reminiscent of ship portholes while simultaneously expressing Genta’s preference for octagonal shapes. The night design was praised by Carlo de Marchi, and the internal watch named "Safari" was successively implemented by the next Basel show.

Every watch comes with a 12-month warranty covering the movement. In addition, you are of course fully entitled to your statutory warranty rights.

Within Germany, 1–3 working days (free shipping). Within the EU, 2–4 working days. Internationally, 2–5 working days. Shipping costs for the EU and international destinations are calculated at checkout.
Do you also ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide via FedEx. Please note that import duties may apply, the amount of which is beyond our control.
